Challenge

A True Headless Omnichannel Commerce Solution

Trulieve needed to reimagine their digital footprint and put best-in-class modern digital commerce solutions at the forefront of their customer experience.

Top initiatives included an upgrade to mobile performance, an integrated and holistic omnichannel experience with ROPIS (reserve online, pickup in-store) function, a full-service computer kiosk allowing in-store pickup moments after arrival, a separate kiosk with low inventory and on-sale items at the specific brick-and-mortar location customers are shopping, and a composable enabled global reference build iterated to match different state statutes and regulations. 

All these components of Trulieve’s commerce package had to be scalable to Trulieve’s ascendant growth and impressive projections while maintaining an adaptable project methodology able to accommodate changes in strategy or business execution. 

Solution

Modern Commerce Blueprint, TotalCare Implementation, Agile Methodology

Corra’s blueprint for modern commerce was a foundation for Trulieve's strategy toward a composable future. The blueprint also includes a corresponding execution plan that facilitates an ascendant trajectory.

Trulieve began the relationship platformed on Adobe, and Corra recommended continuation on the platform while updating and enhancing its capabilities. Corra’s strategic guidance allowed Trulieve to have the best of both worlds: a familiar all-in-one commerce solution that is simultaneously ready to pivot to more complex and intensive composable solutions whenever Trulieve needs. Corra's blueprint offers a stable architecture with a bridge to a dynamic future.

By opting into Corra’s strategic blueprint, Trulieve also received access to top-of-class teams. The strategist team proposed an achievable and modern solution to a series of hyper-complex problems and then handed the project off to Corra’s engineers who delivered the actualized solutions on time and budget.

All of this isn’t possible without the TotalCare program and agile methodology. These complex implementations were under the TotalCare program and executed through weekly agile meetings that allow Corra to continue strategic guidance under the watch and direction of Trulieve.

Flexible Global Reference Build

Cannabis is a fast-growing industry in the United States, so fast that regulations, statutes, and legally acceptable terminology differ from state to state. To solve these logistics, Corra built an iterative global reference build from state to state. The global reference build is a dependable commerce foundation that presents information based on which location the customer picks from the location dropdown menu.

A global reference build also allows significant ROI for Trulieve because they now have a reusable foundation for all their ecommerce initiatives going forward.

Solution

A Headless Architecture Enabling True Multi-Headed Omnichannel

A modern company like Trulieve needs a modern commerce solution. That’s why, under Corra’s recommendation, they opted for a headless PWA solution built on Adobe Commerce, offering best-in-class performance with a mobile-first mentality. They fast-tracked the build of their storefront with Corra’s Pylot storefront and its pre-built components.  

Corra built Trulieve's comprehensive backend architecture that—through Pylot—can deliver a commerce solution to multiple heads: a PWA website, an in-store kiosk, and a Digital Retail Menu offering closeout deals on low inventory products. This execution is the promise of headless commerce coming to fruition—from a single backend, Trulieve is able to create shoppable experiences on nearly anything with a screen. 

Shopping with Real-Time Inventory Updates

Shopping Trulieve offers a fully omnichannel experience. Besides discovering and exploring products on the website, ROPIS (reserve online, pickup in-store) is available, so customers can patiently decide what they want before picking it up at their nearest dispensary.

Digital Retail Menu codes are a new feature for customers to purchase special items in-store only. While shoppers are in a dispensary and waiting on their budtenders, there will be kiosks with QR codes that when scanned by their phone, will take customers to a real-time updated list of low inventory and discounted products at that location only. Customers can see products soon to be unavailable and purchase them before they’re gone.

The Digital Retail Menu also benefits Trulieve’s inventory in that they can now close out low inventory items very quickly. Due to their industry, store-to-store product availability changes drastically, and the Digital Retail Menu codes help facilitate the speedy integration of new products by clearing out older ones.

Upgraded POS System Yields Stability and Site Performance

Trulieve first contacted Corra because of site stability issues. Corra solved those prior stability issues by upgrading the POS system to OMS+. The original POS system was a plug-in to Magento. With the scope of products offered and the ever-increasing traffic of their site, this plug-in wasn’t sufficiently capable. With Corra’s recommendation of OMS+ functioning, the site can handle the traffic and drive revenue.

Trulieve is a leader in a growing and forward-thinking industry. What started as a need for site stability has flowered into much more—a modern and modular global reference build open to state-by-state iterations, omnichannel experiences that are real-time reactive to changing inventory, and a POS upgrade creating site stability and improved performance.
