Background

The House of Creed has been providing elegant and luxurious goods to customers in Europe since approximately 1760. Their perfume, what they’re largely known for now, has been a staple fragrance for celebrities since the 1980s. 

As the commerce world moved more and more towards digital, Creed needed to create an omnichannel shopping experience that showcased their exquisite and special brand aesthetic but allowed customers to experience that signature Creed vision online as well as in person. 

Creed boutique site was launched very quickly and seamlessly. Launch day was issue-free. Launch deadline was met and was issue free.

Challenge

Complex Shipping, Fulfillment, and Omnichannel Requirements

A brand that is known for their elegance and refined taste, like Creed, first and foremost has to have a digital storefront that feels like their brick-and-mortar store experience. The site must also be forward-looking, and a crucial branch of Creed’s brand strategy for the future, while honoring the storied history of the House of Creed.

Creed wanted all their channels to be integrated, to one share one inventory, and for customers engaging with their products to have access to the entirety of the Creed product line regardless of access point meaning the digital storefront must seamlessly connect and integrate with the brick-and-mortar stores inventories. Integrating all these flows requires juggling of complex admin access, shipping logistics, and bundling optionality, not to mention Creed had a strict deadline for launch that was non-negotiable.

Solution

Custom Logic for Shipping and Fulfillment

There is a high number of variables in Creed’s shipping and fulfillment ecosystem. All products can be purchased through all channels, but depending on where the product is purchased from, it will be fulfilled from a different source, and different inventory sourcs have different shipping protocols and bank accounts that the backend order fulfillment systems have to process.

Different brick-and-mortar stores use different FedEx accounts to ship products as do different warehouses. Depending on location, these storefronts and warehouses also use different banking accounts. This means that when an order is placed, the correct shipping location, shipping vendor, and backing location must all be processed by backend systems.  On certain occasions, purchases made online can have the product request fulfilled by brick-and-mortar stores, adding another variable to the already complex process.

The custom logic Corra built is able to pick the best inventory to fulfill the order from, be it brick-and-mortar store or warehouse, and then navigate backend systems to use the corresponding Fedex account and bank account. There are also added shipping stipulations because USPS will only ship fragrances of a certain size, and so depending on what product is purchased, the Shopify instance will have to select different shipping functionalities. 



With a lot of hard work and dedication, this series of complex shipping logics is solved and offers the customer a seamless and intuitive experience where all they have to do is checkout and receive their product.

A Shopping Experience that Meets Creed’s Standards

Creed is one of the leading perfumers in the world, and their clientele expect a refined aesthetic to match. To make sure this expectation is met, Corra’s design and UX team designed every page on the website to be as elegant and special as a brick-and-mortar location is. Some of the choices made to accomplish this include typography and color choices, custom experiences, and an interactive timeline that allows Creed customers to be a part of the brand’s history.

Solution

Custom Fragrance Sampler Set

One of the most exciting online-only services offered by Creed’s digital storefront is a custom fragrance sampler set. This functionality allows users to pick fragrances they’d like to sample, and the price corresponds to number of fragrances chosen as well as prorated retail price of the fragrance the customer selects based on sample sizing.

In order to accompish this, Corra had to custom build the interface, as well as create logic to make sure the each fragrance has a bundled, sampler set price. The custom module also has intensive shipping and fulfilment requirements, as the packing slip has to make clear to the warehouse which fragrances are in the sampler set as well as which size of each fragrance is needed.

Creed needed their new website in time for the holiday season which gave Corra a few short months to complete the project. The website launched with no issues and met Creed’s deadline.

Results

Creed is a historic and beloved brand that now has a digital storefront to carry on their legacy. The website is beautiful and refined, just like Creed customers expect, and has custom shipping logics that are accomplished intuitively.

With this new digital platform to operate from, Creed will continue to grow their business by offering top-tier service around their one-of-a-kind fragrances from any available touchpoint. No matter where customers are, or how they’re shopping, they have access to the House of Creed.
