RECOGNITION
Background
Mud Pie, a family-run, lifestyle brand focusing on home goods and giftable items, started as a small operation with only ten products and has since grown to a prime player in their vertical.
Recognizing that a strong digital footprint is instrumental in achieving their growth initiatives, Mud Pie began to invest in their digital solution by partnering with Corra, the global commerce consultancy that builds high-performing storefronts for growing brands.

Challenge
A Poorly Performing PWA Leads to Disappointing Site Performance
When Mud Pie contacted Corra, their commerce solution wasn’t performing up to expectation: the PWA implementation they received was poor, resulting in frequent troubleshooting and subpar performance. Their site speed was less than ideal due to the poor PWA implementation and their site’s stability was under-performing, creating a much too high bounce rate.
Add up all these performance issues, and it was clear why Mud Pie needed a new implementation partner. After an initial audit and consultation, it was determined that the solution Mud Pie had in place was ultimately not worth salvaging, and because of that Corra kicked off the relationship by recommending Mud Pie switch their frontend to Pylot and that they implement a new PWA built by Corra.
Solution
Pylot, a PWA, and a Performant Frontend
Mud Pie has launched a fast and flexible storefront built with reusable components included in Corra’s commerce accelerator, Pylot. Pylot is a headless framework, and a PWA, with hundreds of prebuilt and reusable components ideal for building a robust and performant solution.
Part of the migration to Pylot is a checkout overhaul, where Mud Pie’s checkout flow was streamlined with the number of clicks and pages required to make a purchase reduced. This simple outcome, fewer clicks and fewer pages in the checkout process, is a huge boost to the conversion performance of a commerce solution. Corra also supplied Mud Pie with a PWA that offers users an app-like experience, lightning-fast load speeds, and offline browsing.
Mud Pie implemented a commerce foundation that is compatible with their business needs and can accommodate changing business initiatives when they inevitably arise. Pylot is a foundation that Mud Pie can take with them on any stage of their digital commerce journey: the components are not proprietary to Corra, but instead meaningful building blocks that Mud Pie is free to use however they think best.
Solution
Backend Integrations and User Experience
Mud Pie migrated from a legacy ERP system to a more modern, and high-performing ERP, as well as migrated their marketing and content assets to a new CMS. A high-performing ERP consolidates critical business information into a single channel where Mud Pie can then easily access that info, from payroll to inventory to purchase history, that they can use when making decisions.
A CMS is where brands manage their visual assets, website copy, product descriptions, and more that make much of what a customer experiences and engages with when on a website. Having an intuitive and efficient CMS allows brands to make changes to their promotions and PDPs quickly, which gives customers a unique and dynamic experience that ultimately rewards them for recurring visits to the site. Having a CMS that acts as a partner to a brand’s initiatives is crucial in having a website that is performant and an asset to business goals.
Frontend features may initially seem more exciting than backend integrations, but the interplay between complex backend systems is key to having a high-performing, conversion-driving website.
Solution
New Digital Storefront Drives 12% Increase in Revenue
All the changes Mud Pie has made to their digital storefront have made positive impacts on their business and there are metrics to back that up.
Some of the positive KPIs post-launch of Mud Pie’s new solution include sessions and conversion rate both increasing by 7% as well as total revenue increasing by 12%. The number of new users has increased by 7% while the percentage of return users has increased by 6% and overall transactions are up 14%.
Core Web Vitals, which are metrics that track a website’s performance, not in terms of revenue or business KPIs but in terms of webpage speed, loading time, image pop-in, and time to interactivity, have all increased since post-launch as well, with the time to load decreasing by almost 2 seconds.
TotalCare is a Strategic Partnership
TotalCare is Corra’s budget-flexible, managed services program that enrolls clients not only in an upgrades and enhancements schedule executed through agile sprints, but also enters the client into a strategic partnership with Corra where we use our team of cross-functional experts in a consultative role. Our teams listen to our clients, work to understand their story and their struggles, and then build a collaborative roadmap that methodically addresses blockers and issues to help clients reach their goals.
Mud Pie’s relationship with Corra began as a TotalCare takeover, where we used our managed services program to audit and overhaul their PWA. In the nearly three years since then, the relationship has blossomed, with multiple roadmaps executed and many more in store. All upgrades and enhancements Mud Pie has received have been executed through TotalCare which goes to show that TotalCare is not only break/fix support and managed services but instead is a comprehensive program offering strategic insight and a partnership designed to help clients accomplish their business initiatives.
Results
Mudpie is a leading player in the home goods and giftable item vertical and after their partnership with Corra, they have a digital storefront that matches their industry standing and business ambition.
A migration to Pylot, Corra’s commerce accelerator and framework, laid the foundation for a stable and performant solution that Mud Pie can build off for years to come. Backend solutions like the CMS and ERP, were migrated from their legacy solutions and brought into modern standards. All these interventions created a storefront that is helping Mud Pie achieve their KPIs with a 12% increase in revenue and a 14% increase in overall transactions.
This partnership has been a success for both parties and we look forward to the next few years where more roadmaps with exciting and revenue-driving upgrades will be implemented.
