Optimizing Your Shopify Plus Experience With Corra

This blog post is a shortened version of Corra’s extended Shopify Plus Guide you can read here. We cover technologies to integrate when you’re fine-tuning your experience on Plus. Reach out to learn more about our personalization and optimization solutions with Dynamic Yield. Or if you’d like to implement payment solutions like Klarna and Shopify Payments.

Let’s set the scene.

A consumer is in bed on a Saturday morning scrolling their phone and lands on Kith’s website, a streetwear brand and retailer. She’s been on the lookout for a matching set to workout in and can’t resist a sale. Clothing on Kith.com generally exceed a price point this consumer (let’s call her Jen) feels comfortable spending… but not when it’s 40% off. She reaches the Kith Women page and is greeted by the brand’s sale promotion (excitement builds). Jen scrolls to the next content block where she sees the black logo sports bra and matching nylon shorts she’s been eyeing for the past few months. There they are, with a 40% off discount–the exact items she saved on Instagram and pinned on Pinterest (along with similar items she may also like, of course). “It’s a sign!” she thinks.

Jen adds the matching set to her cart without hesitation. She then clicks view more where she’s taken to a PLP (product listing page) with sorting that prioritizes other items she may like: comfy streetwear popular in New York City (where she is located), SKUs that are steeply discounted, and a cropped hoodie that correlates with her recent search history.

Jen loves everything but talks herself out of doing too much damage to her wallet for one day– that is until she reaches the bottom of the page and sees the matching jacket and purse that have been recommended for her! They’d go perfectly with her new sports bra and shorts (how did they know?) AND they’re on sale. She proceeds to checkout where she’s given the option to use Shopify Payments or pay in installments through Klarna, if she’d like. She chooses the option of instantly placing her order through Shopify Payments and not needing to climb out of bed to get her wallet and type in the digits on her card. It’s done. She receives a personalized confirmation email and eagerly anticipates the delivery date, mentally planning where she’ll wear her new matching athleisure set.

With the right AI personalization tools this scenario isn’t farfetched. Recent research by Google indicates that consumers are twice as likely to add items to their cart and 40% more likely to spend more than planned when they identify the shopping experience as highly personalized.

A mere 6% of marketers and executives said they masterfully use their data to find personalization opportunities through machine learning technologies.

PAYMENT METHODS

Congratulations, you got a visitor to the cart page. She (let’s call her Becca) has browsed your site and added every item her heart desires to her shopping bag. Now she’s ready to check out and she’s about to get cold feet when she sees her total is over $600. She’s feeling discouraged and doubts whether she should really be spending that much all at once. But then she sees a payment option that allows her to pay in interest-free bite-size amounts. Instead of removing several items from her cart (and diminishing her order value) she chooses to pay in installments. The conversion is restored and Becca gets to splurge on every item in her cart, without the guilt.

Corra strongly recommends implementing a payment solution into your ecommerce experience. We proudly partner with Klarna, a payment solution that gives customers more flexible payment options at checkout. Klarna offers a Shopify Plus app with different services like four interest-free installments, up to 36 months to pay or offering shoppers an extra 30 days to pay.

The solution has been proven to increase AOV (average order value) significantly and reduce cart-abandonment rates (see graphic below).
