Corra, Magento Move Fashion Forward

Corra

On June 9th, Corra and Magento hosted over 50 ecommerce managers and directors for an after work seminar on using Magento in the fashion, apparel, retail, and lifestyle industries. The event was held at the super swanky Core Club in Manhattan’s garment district. Guests enjoyed a full bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres while viewing an exceptional private collection of Andy Warhol lithographs and other modern art originals.

The seminar got underway with a presentation by Corra, a long term Magento Gold Partner, on optimizing an ecommerce platform and deployment for fashion and retail sites. The information presented is obviously relevant to any B2C business. Particular attention was given to the tasks that come after the site is launched: increase average order value (AOV), driving Traffic to site, increasing Conversion Rates, and stimulating Repeat Purchases while decreasing Purchase Intervals. Techniques such as personalized merchandising, and using onsite search as a merchandizing tool (“searchandizing) were covered in depth.

Magento staff on hand for the event then presented the capabilities of the Magento ecommerce platform, the fastest growing ecommerce platform in the world.

Wrapping up the formal portion of the event, Darren Johnson, the ecommerce manager for modern furniture maker Lovesac, presented his company’s experience working with Corra and Magento to deploy a world class ecommerce site that still manages to support their quirky–dare we say, irreverent–brand. Darren focused on why Lovesac selected Magento for their platform, the development and deployment process working with Corra, and the concrete results and benefits achieved. The Lovesac site was launched in time for the 2010 holiday shopping season and in the one week around Cyber Monday, the company did more eBusiness than in the rest of the year.

Following the event, a crew of revelers, inspired by what they had heard, headed to the Core Club’s happening bar, loosened their collars, and enjoyed some informal conversation and a few drinks.

This is just the first of a regular series of seminars that Corra will be hosting. The focus will continue to be on the best practices for developing, deploying and optimizing enterprise ecommerce sites. Stay tuned!
